Semiya payasam(vermicelli kheer)

Semiya payasam is a South Indian sweet made with vermicelli,milk,ghee,sugar,raisins and nuts

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup semiya

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon green cardamom powder

4 cup milk

2 tablespoon ghee

1. Heat a heavy bottom pan with 1 tablespoon ghee.

2. Add 12 cashew nuts and 1 tablespoon raisins and fry till lightly golden

3. Remove these to a plate and keep aside

4. Add another tablespoon ghee and add 3/4 semiya to the same pot

5. Roast the semiya till slightly golden on a medium flame .

6. Pour 4 cups of milk to the pot

7. Bring the milk to boil on a medium flame. Stir and make sure there are no lumbs.

8. Cook till the semiya is fully soft cooked . Keep stirring to prevent burning.

9. Add 1/2 cup sugar and cook on a low heat until the semiya payasam turns thick. It may take upto 3 to 4 minutes .

10. Next add 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder and add fried cashew and raisins and the dish is ready.šŸ˜‹
